From the Caribbean to Winter Wonderland

And off we went. Our plane from Cartagena to Amsterdam lifted in the evening. And just like that we landed a few hours later in a foggy, cold Amsterdam. From the warmth of the Caribbean to a winter wonderland, the transition could not have been more striking.

For Lars, this was a return to the familiar. Embracing winter, enjoying the rare sunny days, and waiting patiently for spring. For Sebas, it was a moment unlike any other. His very first winter, in his new chosen home, the Netherlands.

The contrast was huge, but also beautiful. One chapter closed, another opened. Back to business, back to our routines, and back to finding balance after weeks of travel.

Finding Home in the Netherlands

We knew we needed a place to feel grounded, a home where we could live and grow together with Captain Meow Meow. Living in the centre of Amsterdam no longer felt right, and with the Dutch housing market in chaos, we understood that finding something would take patience.

For now, everything is falling into place. We are in Haarlem, staying in an entire house with a garden for two months, and slowly it feels like home.

Lars is back at work, leading a team in a historic castle close to Haarlem. Sebas is stepping into his true path, having already applied to a makeup school and working one day a week with a fashion designer. Both journeys are filled with promise. The last step ahead of us is securing Sebas’ residence permit, which will finally allow him to live and work freely across the European Union.

Once this is complete, a heavy weight will be lifted. Immigration is never simple, but this permit will bring us peace of mind, giving us space to focus on what matters most: our passions, our creativity, and building the life we are dreaming of together.

Embracing Life in Our New Winter Wonderland

We will keep sharing updates every week as we navigate this new chapter. Starting over in a new country is both exciting and challenging. It brings moments of doubt and moments of joy, but we believe each step brings us closer to the life we want.
